Known for its serene environment, rolling hills, and peaceful lakes, the area offers an ideal setting for spiritual practice and Dharma study. The center serves as the North American branch of Gonjang Monastery, dedicated to providing a platform for practitioners of Longchen Nyingthig to deepen their study and practice of the Dharma.

This lineage, passed down from the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche, is a treasured tradition practiced by the monks of Dodrupchen Monastery for generations.

In June 2024, at the compassionate request of H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, Khenpo Thinley Dorjei from Chorten Drupkhang visited the Gonjang Labrang Center to provide teachings and guidance on Longchen Nyingthig Ngondro retreat practice. This lineage, passed down from the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche, is a treasured tradition practiced by the monks of Dodrupchen Monastery for generations.

During the retreat, Khenpo Thinley Dorjei outlined the overall structure of the retreat, daily visualization practices, and specific steps for meditation. To ensure students fully understood the teachings, he demonstrated key practices and guided the students through them step by step. He also patiently answered questions, corrected meditation postures, and shared his personal experiences and insights.

Students deeply appreciated this rare opportunity. They took detailed notes during the teachings and engaged in discussions and practice afterward, laying a solid foundation for their future spiritual path.
在堪布春列多吉的带领下，中心的学员们隆重举行了仁增堆巴（持明总集）的法会，旨在祈愿世界和平、繁荣昌盛，众生能离苦得乐、速成佛道。此外，堪布会在每日早晨，带领学员修行山烟供。因为是龙年，中心在特殊的出龙日举行了龙烟供法会，诉请龙王众护佑众生。所有法会均能帮助学员积累资粮、净化业障，所有功德回向一切众生。 Under Khenpo Thinley Dorjei’s guidance, the center also held the Vidyadhara Assembly ceremony for world peace, prosperity, and the liberation of all beings. Each morning, Khenpo led students in the Riwo Sangcho practice. Additionally, as 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, a special Dragon Smoke Offering ceremony was held on an auspicious day, dedicated to invoking the blessings of the Dragon Kings for the protection of all beings. These ceremonies helped students accumulate merit, purify karma, and dedicate all virtues to the benefit of all sentient beings.

Looking Ahead

In 2025, H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche will bestow empowerments for the Three Roots of Longchen Nyingthig at Gonjang Labrang Center. Preparations for this important event are already underway.

Khenpo Thinley Dorjei, as the resident teacher, will continue to guide students in their study and practice, focusing on both the Ngondro (preliminary practices) and main practices of Longchen Nyingthig Great Perfection.

Gonjang Rinpoche brought sacred statues, exquisite thangkas, and ritual implements from Sikkim, performing consecration ceremonies for these treasures. He also led students in various Dharma activities, including the Riwo Sangcho (Smoke Offering) and other profound practices. These events not only blessed the center but also laid a strong foundation for its future mission of spiritual practice and Dharma propagation.

Gonjang Rinpoche established the center’s management guidelines and finalized the organizational structure, ensuring the center operates as a nonprofit charity fully compliant with U.S. laws. He also planned future development, including the construction of a main shrine hall and retreat facilities.

This sacred space will provide students with opportunities to realize the profound essence of the Dharma, leading to inner peace and ultimate liberation.
Bodhgaya Ceremony

菩提迦耶大法会 Bodhgaya Grand Dharma Assembly

Choosing Bodhgaya, the site of Buddha's enlightenment, for this ceremony holds special blessing power. The ceremony includes various traditional rituals such as butter lamp offerings, sutra recitations, and special practices, with all merit dedicated to all sentient beings. The gathering of monastics and practitioners from different countries demonstrates the borderless nature of Buddhist teachings. The ceremony ground is magnificent, with thousands of butter lamps burning day and night and the continuous sound of mantras filling the air. Rinpoche will lead participants in various precious practices, including Guru Rinpoche feast offerings and Manjushri ceremonies, praying for the long-lasting presence of genuine dharma and the happiness of all beings. This ceremony serves not only as a rare opportunity for practice but also as an important platform for international Buddhist exchange. Through such international gatherings, understanding and communication between Buddhists from different regions are enhanced, jointly supporting the preservation of genuine dharma.

The Vajrakilaya ceremony is one of the most important practices in Tibetan Buddhism, known for its powerful blessing in removing obstacles. During these seven days, monastics will continuously perform the Vajrakilaya ritual, invoking its blessing power through mantra recitation and ritual instruments. The ceremony is personally presided over by Gonjang Rinpoche, who will transmit the essential instructions and visualization methods of Vajrakilaya practice. The ceremony includes fire puja rituals to purify participants' karmic obstacles and accumulate merit and wisdom. Participating monastics and lay practitioners will make aspirations together, praying for the removal of all obstacles for themselves and all beings, while also praying for world peace and the flourishing of dharma. This ceremony offers not only a precious opportunity for practice but also a rare chance to deeply understand traditional Tibetan Buddhist practices. Through participation in such large-scale ceremonies, practitioners can profoundly experience the power and blessings of traditional practices.

This teaching program is one of the monastery's important annual heritage education projects, aimed at providing systematic Buddhist education for the new generation of monastics. The curriculum covers the Five Major Treaties of sutra and essential tantric practice instructions, taught by senior Khenpos and Acharyas. The teaching methodology combines traditional debate, lectures, and practical training to help students deeply understand the essence of the teachings. The daily schedule is intensive and comprehensive, including morning prayers, debate sessions, scriptural studies, and evening prayers. Through this month of intensive study, participating monastics will establish a solid foundation in Buddhist philosophy while learning essential practice instructions. This traditional teaching method not only preserves the essence of thousand-year-old Buddhist education but also develops monastics' abilities in independent thinking and research. Through such educational activities, the purity and continuity of dharma transmission are ensured, nurturing excellent talents for the propagation of Buddhism.

H.H. was recognized as the reincarnation of Yolmo Ngagchang Shakya Zangpo and admitted as a monk of Sangchen Pemayangtse Monastery.

Gonjang Rinpoche is the religious leader of the Longchen NyingThig study, the Clergyman of Gonjang Monstary in Sikkim, India, and the religious advisor to the King of Sikkim. H.H. was recognized as the reincarnation of Yolmo Ngagchang Shakya Zangpo and admitted as a monk of Sangchen Pemayangtse Monastery. H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche spent three years of retreat at Chorten Drupkhang under the guidance of H.H Drodup Rinpoche and studied at Drejong Shedra to learn the strong and in-depth Buddhist Philosophy under the supervision of Ven.Khenchen Tsundrue Rinpoche, Khenchen Dasar Rinpoche, etc. Rinpoche have received all about Jang-ter tradition regarding empowerments and oral transmission including the Dzogchen Gongpa zang-thal from H.H. Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. He received other oral transmission like Kagyur, Dujom terser and complete ka ter teachings from H.H. Dujom Rinpoche, H.H Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche, H.H. Drodupchen Rinpoche, H.H. Jadrel Rinpoche, H.H Pedma Norbu Rinpoche, H.H. Mdomang Yangthang Rinpoche and many others high rinpoches. H.H. Rinpoche had already given valuable teachings particularly in Sikkim and abroad. H.H. Rinpoche established Gonjang monastery at rongbull, Dorjeling in early 1970s and established main seat Ogen Mdo Ngag Choling Monastery in the year 1980 near Gangtok at Bojogari. Further H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche has contributed a lot for the benefit of world peace by constructing a chorten (stupa) at Tashiding and Shar chog Bay-phug.

喇嘛衮桑多吉 Lama Kunzang Dorje

衮桑多吉是一位佛法导师，也是宁玛派传承龙钦宁提的实修瑜伽士。 自2006年以来，接受了来自达隆哲珠仁波且、阳塘仁波且、贡绛仁波且、多智钦寺塔洛仁波且等多位传承上师的包括龙钦宁提伏藏、大宝伏藏在内的灌顶和口传。 2019年，在贡绛仁波且的指引下，衮桑多吉于果洛地区多智钦寺的闭关房中，圆满完成了上师总集、大吉祥总集、大乐王母空行、大悲观音、上师更密等龙钦宁提的传统闭关。现在他受贡绛仁波且的指派教授佛法，指导多位弟子实修龙钦宁提前行和正行。 Lama Kunzang Dorje is a senior Khenpo from Gonjang Monastery and the resident teacher at Gonjang Labrang Buddhist Center. He received traditional Buddhist education at Gonjang Monastery from an early age and studied under many accomplished masters. Having taught at Gonjang Monastery's Buddhist Institute for many years, he has nurtured numerous excellent students. His clear teaching style and rich practice experience have earned him great respect from his students. Lama Kunzang excels at guiding beginners and has extensive experience teaching both preliminary and main practices of Longchen Nyingthig. As the resident teacher at Gonjang Labrang Buddhist Center, he will regularly offer teachings and guide practice sessions. He emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, dedicated to helping modern practitioners apply Buddhist teachings in daily life.

Since 2006, he has received empowerments and oral transmissions from several lineage masters, including Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche, H.H. Mdomang Yangthang Rinpoche, H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, and Tallo Rinpoche from Dodrupchen Monastery, encompassing the Longchen Nyingthig Terma and The Treasure of Precious Collection. In 2019, under the guidance of H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, Lama Kunzang Dorje completed the traditional retreats of Gathering of the Vidyadharas, Awesome Ones' Assembly, Dechen Gyalmo, Avalokiteśvara, and Most Secret Master in the retreat rooms of Tallo Monastery in the Golog Region. These retreats were part of the Longchen Nyingthig practice. Now, under the instruction of H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, he teaches Dharma and guides numerous disciples in the practice of Longchen Nyingthig Ngondro and the main practice of Longchen Nyingthig. Since 2023, H.H. It is a sacred place deeply rooted in the long-standing traditions of Buddhism, imbued with endless wisdom and tranquility. Located at 143 Northfield Road, Litchfield, Connecticut, the center spans 7 acres and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the profound teachings of Buddhism. At Gonjang Labrang, our mission is to provide a transformative experience for all who seek spiritual growth. Through immersive teachings, dynamic lectures, and a wide range of enriching activities, we aim to nurture the well-being of the mind, body, and soul. 成立缘起 Founding Story

贡绛仁波且与贡绛寺北美中心的缘分始于 2015年。当时，尊贵的贡绛仁波且首次来到康州的里奇菲尔德，便萌生了在此建立修行场所的美好愿望。此地风景优美，环境静谧，十分适合修行者在此学习与实修佛法。 随后，他的弟子们发心募集资金，经过五到六年的努力，终于在2021年正式购得了这块位于里奇菲尔德的土地。 2023年，尊贵的贡绛仁波且亲临此地，主持了隆重的开光仪式。仁波且亲手树立了门口的风马旗，标志着贡绛寺北美中心的正式成立。同时，仁波且带领中心学员举办了隆重的会供、烟供等法会，不仅为当地带来了美好的祝福，也为学员们带来了吉祥的加持。贡绛寺北美中心正式肩负起弘法利生的神圣使命。 同年六月，由喇嘛衮桑多吉正式负责中心的建设和运营，开始着手中心的规划和筹款等工作。 2016年第四世多智钦仁波且为这座佛教中心赐名贡绛寺北美中心（Gonjang Labrang）。这一名称意义深远，是中心发展历程中最为重要的里程碑之一，象征着中心所承载的历史使命。 The connection between H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche and the Gonjang Labrang Center began in 2015. During his first visit to Litchfield, Connecticut, Rinpoche envisioned establishing a spiritual center in this serene and picturesque location. The area's tranquil environment, with its natural beauty and peaceful setting, made it an ideal place for studying and practicing Dharma. Inspired by Rinpoche's vision, his disciples began fundraising efforts. After five to six years of dedication, they successfully acquired the 7-acre property in Litchfield in 2021. In 2023, H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche returned to the site to lead the consecration ceremony and host several Dharma events. He personally raised the prayer flags at the entrance, marking the official establishment of the Gonjang Labrang Center. Rinpoche also led students in hosting several grand ceremonies, including Riwo Sangcho and Dechen Gyalmo Offerings. These practices brought blessings to the local community and auspicious benefits to practitioners across North America. As the North American center for Gonjang Monastery, Gonjang Labrang officially took on its sacred mission to spread Dharma and benefit beings. In June of the same year, Lama Kunzang Dorje began overseeing the center's operations and fundraising efforts, laying the groundwork for its growth. In 2016, the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche gave the center its name, "Gonjang Labrang." This name carries profound significance, indicating the Center’s historical mission and spiritual purpose.

与贡绛寺的关系 Relationship with Gonjang Monastery

贡绛寺北美中心是贡绛寺在北美的核心分支机构，继承并延续了贡绛寺的法脉与修行传统，致力于将佛法传播到北美地区，为修行者提供一个学习与实修的平台。 2024年，受尊贵的贡绛仁波且的慈悲委托，秋丹寺大堪布春列多吉亲临贡绛寺北美中心，为学员们传授了龙钦宁提前行闭关实修的指导。在学员们的诚挚请求下，大堪布详细开示了龙钦宁提大圆满前行的实修方法，为学员们提供了难得的学习机会。 印度锡金甘托克的贡绛寺由贡绛仁波且创立，是藏传佛教宁玛派的一座寺院。这座庄严的道场位于喜马拉雅山脉的南麓，座落于美丽的世界第三高峰干城章嘉峰山脚下，因其庄严清净的修行氛围和悠久的传承历史，绽放着清净纯洁的光辉。 贡绛寺虽然在传统上属于宁玛派北伏藏的传承重寺，但尊敬的贡绛仁波且作为龙钦宁提传承的根本法主——多智钦仁波且的心子，也成为龙钦宁提的传承持有人，贡绛仁波且曾多次在世界各地给信众们传授龙钦宁提的各类灌顶和口传。 现有一百多位学僧在贡绛寺的佛学院学习包括北伏藏和龙钦宁提在内的佛法甚深教义，寺院内有多位传承清净、多年实修的佛法指导教师（堪布）。也常年有数十位僧伽和瑜伽士在贡绛寺闭关房内闭关实修。 贡绛寺有重实修的传统，这在当今浮夸、速成、快餐般的修行世界里，略显得有点格格不入。我们欢迎世界各地的信众来到贡绛寺，看一看真实的修行世界是什么样的。 Gonjang Labrang Buddhist Center serves as the core North American branch of Gonjang Monastery. It upholds the monastery’s lineage and practice traditions, providing a platform for students to study and deepen their Dharma practice. In 2024, under the compassionate guidance of H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, Khenpo Thinley Dorjei from Chorten Drupkhang visited Gonjang Labrang. He offered detailed guidance on the Longchen Nyingthig Ngondro retreat practices, sharing invaluable teachings on the profound preliminary practices of Longchen Nyingthig Great Perfection. Gonjang Monastery, located in Gangtok, Sikkim, India, was founded by H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche. This Nyingma monastery is situated at the southern foothills of the Himalayas, near the majestic Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak. Known for its serene and sacred atmosphere, the monastery radiates the timeless brilliance of its pure and ancient lineage. Although traditionally a stronghold of the Jang-ter (Northern Treasure) lineage, Gonjang Monastery has also become a vital center for the Longchen Nyingthig tradition. H.H. Gonjang Rinpoche, as a heart disciple of the Fourth Dodrupchen Rinpoche, is a lineage holder of Longchen Nyingthig. He has bestowed numerous empowerments and oral transmissions of this profound tradition to students worldwide. Currently, over a hundred monastic students are studying the profound doctrines of both the Jang-ter and Longchen Nyingthig traditions at Gonjang Monastery’s Buddhist academy. The monastery also has several qualified Dharma teachers (Khenpos), who have spent years practicing and transmitting pure teachings. Each year, dozens of monks and yogis engage in solitary retreats at the monastery’s retreat facilities. Gonjang Monastery has a strong tradition of deep practice, which may seem somewhat out of place in today’s world of flashy, shortcut-driven spiritual pursuits. We warmly welcome practitioners from around the world to visit Gonjang Monastery and witness what true spiritual practice looks like.

贡绛寺北美中心将不定期举办多种佛法学习和实修活动，欢迎十方信众前来咨询，联系参与。 同时，中心将进一步修建大殿和闭关房，为佛法实修提供更加完善的场所设施。相关建筑将按照藏传佛教风格进行建造，确保坚固耐用、长久屹立，其内部将经过精心装饰，旨在为踏入中心的修行者提供宁静而富有启发性的修行空间。 In the near future we will build additional facilities at Gonjang Labrang, including a beautiful temple. This temple will be a place for studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism, particularly the Great Perfection Longchen Nyingthig lineage. We also plan to host teachers from other wisdom traditions and warmly welcome everyone. The temple will be constructed following the standards of its lineage and traditional practices, ensuring durability and longevity. The interior will be meticulously designed to create a serene space for practitioners to study and deepen their practice.

成立缘起

Relation with Gonjang Temple
